The Abortion Act, 1967 was introduced as a private member's bill by the Liberal MP David Steel to legalize abortion in Britain. The act was passed into law in October, 1967. The act made abortion legal up to 28 weeks gestation. Margaret Thatcher was among the MPs who voted in favour of the act.[1]
