The Achille Lauro was an Italian cruise ship that was hijacked by terrorists in 1985. The terrorists then murdered an 69-year-old, wheelchair-bound Jewish-American on board named Leon Klinghoffer. The terrorists subsequently pushed him overboard in his wheelchair.

After the U.S. military intervened and forced the capture of the terrorists, they were convicted in an Italian court.
