Aguilar v. Felton
In Aguilar v. Felton, 473 U.S. 402, 87 L. Ed. 2d 290, 105 S. Ct. 3232 (1985), the U.S. Supreme Court held that the Establishment Clause prohibits governmental financial assistance to parochial schools. Justice William Brennan delivered the opinion of the court, joined by Justices Thurgood Marshall, Harry Blackmun, Lewis Powell, and John Paul Stevens. Justice Powell filed a concurring opinion. Justices Warren Burger, Byron White, William Rehnquist, and Sandra Day O'Connor (joined in part by Justice Rehnquist) filed dissenting opinions.
