Alan Sugar, Baron Sugar (born London, 24 March 1947) is a British businessman who founded the electronics company Amstrad plc, which did much to popularise personal computers in the 1980s and 1990s, and for several years owned the English Premier League football team Tottenham Hotspur F.C. He has recently achieved further fame as the prospective employer in the British version of the TV series The Apprentice, where he employs his gruff, no-nonsense personality to great effect.
