Alexander Lukashenko is the dictator of Belarus since 1994. During his tenure, he has been admonished by the United States, European Union and other organizations for suppressing democracy and trying to re-instill Soviet practices on the country. Due to unfair election practices, such as accusations of squashing free press and election rigging, Lukashenko was issued travel bans by the United States and the EU. He has good relationships to Russia, Kazakhstan and Venezuela. In 2012 Lukashenko made a law to force people to work.[1] After the gay german foreign minister Guido Westerwelle called him an dictator, Lukashenko answered "it is better to be a dictator than gay".[2]
