Eleventh Homework

Read the chapters on first four pages of “Civil Rights,” pp. 181-86 and “Public Policy,” pp. 193-98 in the textbook. Complete and self-grade the multiple choice questions at the end of each chapter.

Because the reading is more than usual, the questions are fewer than usual. Each is worth 6 points:

1. The federal law prohibiting discrimination against the disabled is the ____________,

2. Explain what “affirmative action” is. Contrast it with “quotas”.

3. Did Congress ever require “comparable worth”? Include in your answer an explanation of what it is.

4. Some criticize our “regulatory state.” What are they referring to?

5. Explain how books can influence public policy, providing at least two examples.

(No extra credit this week.)
