1. I think Abraham Lincoln’s election was similar because people were making threats about what they would do if he won, which he did.

The analogy is an unusual one, as I don't think any states promised to secede if Obama won!

2. I think it was becoming a bad thing as it went on. It turned out to just be greed and something for the newspapers to write about.
