Astarte was the Phoenician goddess of fertility and reproduction. She was the principal deity of the port city of Sidon, but was also worshiped as far west as Carthage, Sicily, Sardinia and Cyprus. She was the sister and co-consort of Baal. Astarte is also known as Istar.[1]
