Astro Boy
From Conservapedia
Astro Boy (鉄腕アトム, Tetsuwan atomu; "Mighty Atom") is a perennially popular Japanese anime and manga series created by famed mangaka Osamu Tezuka. It was first created as a spinoff from an early Tezuka manga, Captain Atom, in the late 1950s.
The series is about Astro Boy (Atom in the Japanese versions), a boy robot with emotions and six powers, as well as 100,000 horsepower, who sets out to make peace between humans and technologically-advanced robots in a futuristic Tokyo. Villains are usually corrupt humans who mistreat robots, and there are extremist robots who rebel against humans to create their own utopian nation. The series has a strong anti-racism message, albeit opposed to extremism. The extremist robot villains have striking parallels to Marxism.
It was made into three anime series: a black-and-white series in 1963, a color version in 1980, and another new color version in 2003. All three series have been dubbed in English. A computer-animated film starring Freddie Highmore as Astro and animated by Hong Kong-based IMAGI Entertainment, is set to release in October 2009.
