Atlanta Thrashers

The Atlanta Thrashers are a hockey team based in Atlanta, Georgia. They are members of the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). They were founded in the 1999 expansion draft, returning professional hockey to Atlanta after the Flames moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1980. They are named after the brown thrasher, the state bird of Georgia. The Thrashers play in the Phillips Arena, also the home to the Atlanta Hawks of the NBA.
