Apparently captured from Spanish forces in the Philippine Islands during the Spanish–American War, Belusan served briefly with the Asiatic Squadron after being taken over by the Navy. Following the removal of her engines and boilers, her name was struck from the Naval Vessel Register on 11 February 1901. No logs for her exist, but records suggest that she may have been transferred to the War Department. Her ultimate disposition remains a mystery.[1]
