The black-footed cat, or Felis nigripes is a small African wild cat. It is one of the smallest cat species, with the female of the species weighing as little as 1.5kg.

Diet and habits

It is perfectly suited to its environment, and can survive on little water, getting all it needs from food. This food mainly consists of rodents, small mammals and birds. They are known for fiercly defending themselves when cornered, and as such are known locally as 'Anthill Tigers'. [1]
