The Black Power movement of the 1960s was a revolutionary movement among African Americans which rejected many of the basic non-violent and cooperationist tenets of the civil rights movement in favor of a fundamental reordering of an American society that adherents saw as fundamentally racist. In its most extreme incarnations, Black Power ideology violently rejected whites as terminally evil. [1]
