Brandon "Bam" Childress is a National Football League (NFL) wide receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles. He was born on April 31, 1982 and is 5-10, and weighs 185 pounds. He is a cousin of star Denver Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey.
High School Football Career
Brandon Childress attended Chanel High School (Warrensville Heights, Ohio) He quickly became one of Ohio's best football prospects. As a senior in 1999, Brandon Childress was named Ohio's Mr. Football, USA Today's Ohio Player of the Year and the Division V Defensive Player of the Year. In his junior season, he set school season receiving records for catches(53) and yardage (874). Bam closed his career as Chanel's all-time leader in scoring (202 points), touchdowns (33), receiving yards (2,258), TD receptions (21), TD punt returns (seven) and all-purpose yardage (7,103).
College Football Career
Brandon Childress attended Ohio State University (OSU) and played 49 games as a third wide receiver and kickoff returner. In his four years of playing college football he accumulated 33 career receptions for 392 yards and also recorded nine kickoff returns for 159 yards. Although not a starter - Brandon was part of the 2002 OSU team that won the national BCS title game vs. the University of Miami in one of the most dramatic games in college football history.
Brandon Childress was undrafted out of Ohio State University, but the New England Patriots signed him to a short term deal and he participated in training camp and played well in preseason, both as a wide receiver and extra defensive back. Because of his hard work and determination to make the team he earned himself a spot on the New England Patriots practice squad. Activated for the last game of the 2005 season against the Miami Dolphins, he played well in a losing effort, finishing with three catches for thirty two yards. In the 2006 season Bam Childress was brought up from the practice squad for two games to be a backup receiver for the Patriots and he ended the season with two receptions for seven yards. He signed a one year deal with the Patriots before being released from the team on September 1, 2007 in the teams final roster cutdown.
