The CN Tower, located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada is the tallest freestanding structure in North America. The CN Tower is 1815 ft 5 in (553.33 metres) tall and was constructed between 1973 and 1976 by the Canadian National Railroad corporation[1]. It is one of the largest tourist attractions in Toronto, and over 2 million people visit the tower annually. Located in the city's Downtown area, the Tower dominates the skyline and is close to other attractions such as the Roger's Center and entertainment and cultural venues. From the public observation decks a visitor can sometimes see across Lake Ontario to Rochester, New York. It continues to be a communications tower for several Toronto television and radio stations as well as Cellular and Paging systems.

As of 2008, the Burj Dubai supertall skyscraper has surpassed the CN Tower in height, and has become the tallest freestanding man-made structure in the world.
