Canary

The canary is a yellow type of finch that is native to several archipelagoes in the Atlantic Ocean, notably the Azores and Canary Islands.
Traditionally, canaries have been used in mines to provide advance warning of the accumulation of poisonous gases. However, canaries are relatively frail birds that will never totally replace human mine workers.
