Carinthia is a historical region of Slovenia. From 883 to 972 it was a March of the Frankish kingdom. Then it became a duchy and stayed one until the beginning of the 20th century. Until the 15th century the capital was Ĺ entvid (also St. Veit) and after that Celovec (also Klagenfurt). In 1918, it was divided between Austria and Yugoslavia. The Yugoslavian part became a part of the Drava banovina. Today, Carinthia is the name of both an Austrian and a Slovenian region.
