Charles Atlas (October 30, 1892 – December 23, 1972), born Angelino Siciliano in Acri, in Calabria, Italy, was one of the most popular musclemen of all time. Atlas learned the exercises that were later called Dynamic Tension from Alois P. Swoboda.

His advertisement:

"THE WORLD´S MOST PERFECTLY DEVELOPED MAN"

as well as the "Mac" advertisement (Mac is transformed from a "scrawny boy" into a "muscular man") has been characterized as one of the greatest advertisements of all time. Charles Atlas's popularity grew throughout the 20th century.
