Chris Hanson (born October 25, 1976 Riverdale, Georgia) is a National Football League punter for the New England Patriots. He entered the NFL in 1999 after attending Marshall University and was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Green Bay Packers. After the 1999 season, Hanson was released by the Packers and signed by the Miami Dolphins to their practice squad. In 2001, the Jacksonville Jaguars signed Hanson as a free agent. He would spend the next six seasons (2001-2006) with the Jaguars and made the Pro Bowl in the 2002 season. In 2007, the New England Patriots signed Hanson as their punter after he was released by the Jaguars.
