Classical Liberalism refers to:

  • an economic view in support of free enterprise
  • a political philosophy based on a belief in progress and goodness in man
  • a Protestant movement embracing intellectual liberty
  • support of individual liberty

The term is almost never used in regards to contemporary political discourse in the United States: the four positions above are held mainly by conservatives and libertarians.
