A cognitum is defined as groups of plants or animals that seem to go together by use of the senses.[1] It is not a formal taxonomic unit and can include both narrow and wide groupings such as wading birds, albino snakes, and lemurs. The use of cognitum within Baraminology was brought forward by Roger Sanders.[2]
