Colony Wars: Vengeance
From Conservapedia
Colony Wars: Vengeance (ESRB rating: K-A) is a PlayStation game made by Psygnosis. It is the second in the Colony Wars trilogy.
Changes in gameplay
There were not many changes in gameplay from the original Colony Wars. This game allowed the player to collect tech tokens from completed missions and use them to upgrade their fighters. The game first introduced planetary missions to Colony Wars.
Plot
The story begins a century after the original Colony Wars. The player plays as a fighter pilot for the colonial navy. After they were defeated by the League of Free Worlds the people Sol system began fighting each other in a civil war. The Navy was reunited under a new commander named Kron, who makes plans to lead the navy to war against the League of Free Worlds. This is a war of vengeance for the Navy for which the game is named. Like the original Colony Wars the missions that the player won or lost would effect the storyline there was only one storyline that could end well for the Navy. Although the League is shown as being corrupt and evil the Navy commander Kron is also evil. The game emphasized characters far more than the original did.
Characters
Mertens is the character of the player. He is a Navy fighter pilot who is loyal to Commander Kron. As Kron's tactics seem more and more immoral he begins to doubt Kron as an acceptable leader. Mertens narrates the movie sequences.
Klein is Merten's close friend and another Navy pilot. The two of them fly many missions together. Klein is at one point killed by a League pilot named the Widowmaker.
Becks is a woman fighter pilot who is also a close friend to Mertens. She replaces Klein when he is killed by the Widowmaker. She eventually joins navy command. She becomes the head of the Watch and can either try to bring Mertens to trial as a traitor to the Navy, or becomes a traitor and must be killed by Mertens.
Drake is an intelligence officer who gives Mertens advice during some of the missions.
Widowmaker is an elite League assassin who attempts to kill Mertens in his missions in the Cronus system. When his ship is destroyed it splits into two less powerful ships.
The Watch is a Navy counter intelligence unit that is placed in charge of killing navy traitors. Mertens and Becks become members of the Watch. Becks is eventually promoted to head of the Watch.
Kron is the commander of the Navy. He is frequently mentioned and praised. He begins to make immoral choices; when he executes two intelligence officers who made a huge mistake and when he orders attacks on civilians. He is found out to be an ex-league pilot who was betrayed by the league. He unifies the Navy to try to get revenge against them. The Navy betrays him and makes peace with the league. Mertens is forced to stop him from finishing his vengeance in the last level.
The Aliens are a force that begins attacking both League and Navy in the Boreas system. The Navy and League unite to defeat the Aliens.
