Committee of General Security

The Committee of General Security was tasked with rooting out all anti-republican opposition. It established a Revolutionary Tribunal in Paris on 10 March 1793 to try suspects. Georges Danton intended to stop events like the September Massacres, saying "Let us embody Terror so as to prevent the people from doing so."
