Cowboy Bebop

Cowboy Bebop is a Japanese animated series produced by the Sunrise anime studio. The story deals with a group of 21st century bounty hunters and their spaceship, the Bebop. It is well known for its jazzy soundtrack and its rather high level of violence. 26 episodes were originally aired in 1998-99, followed a few years later by a feature-length movie.
Characters
- Spike Spiegel, former mafia hood and main protagonist. Born on Mars, and very good at martial arts.
- Jet Black, former cop on Ganymede and Spike's partner. Has an artificial arm, legacy of a bust that went bad when he was still on the force.
- Faye Valentine, con artist (before meeting the Bebop crew). Introduced in episode 3.
- Edward, pre-teen computer hacker. Lived on Earth before joining the Bebop crew. Introduced in episode 9.
- Ein, Welsh corgi and former lab animal. Introduced in episode 2.
Setting
Cowboy Bebop is set in the year 2071. Humans travel throughout the solar system via ring-shaped hyperspace gateways. Prior to the story, a gate near Earth exploded, releasing so much energy that Earth was left almost uninhabitable. The vast majority of humanity live on space stations and the recently terraformed worlds of Mars, Venus, and the moons of Jupiter and Saturn.
