Deadwood was a American western-television series created by David Milch. The show ran for 3 seasons, between 2004 and 2006, on the HBO network. The show is highly explicit, with over 1.5 repetitions of the F-word per one minute on average. The swearing is highly anachronistic. It is also highly violent, and deals with topics such as homosexuality and murder.

The show is named after the actual city of Deadwood, South Dakota. It portrays actual historical figures, such as Wild Bill Hickok, Seth Bullock, Al Swearengen, Calamity Jane, Charlie Utter and George Hearst to name a few. It won eight Emmy Awards and one Golden Globe.
