Death From Above 1979 was a Toronto-based rock duo consisting of Sebastien Grainger and Jesse Keeler that made drum and bass-heavy songs from their inception in 2001 until they broke up in 2006. The band was originally called Death From Above, but the threat of a lawsuit from a similarly named act prompted Grainger to add the year of his birth to the end of the band's name.
