Distillation is the act of boiling and condensing a mixture of liquids with different boiling points in order to separate the mixture's individual components.[1] For most processes the mixture is boiled and the gas let off is condensed then boiled again. This is called multi-stage distillation, and is the concept behind distillation columns.
