Doug Mientkiewicz

Douglas Andrew Mientkiewicz (born June 19, 1974 in Toledo, Ohio) is a Major League Baseball first baseman. In his professional career he has played with the Minnesota Twins (1998 - 2004), Boston Red Sox (2004), New York Mets (2005), Kansas City Royals, New New York Yankees and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Although he has not known as a great offensive player throughout his career, he is one of the best defensive players in the game. In 2001, he won the American League Gold Glove award for first base.[1] He entered professional baseball in 1995 when he was drafted in the fifth round of the 1995 MLB Draft by the Minnesota Twins.[2]
