Eoghan Harris

Eoghan Harris is an Irish opinion columnist and scriptwriter. In the 1980s he worked for the Irish state television company RTE . At the same time he was a secret member of the Marxist Worker's Party of Ireland and worked to advance the agenda of the party using his influence in RTE.[1] The Party supported free availability of contraceptives, divorce, abortion and gay rights in addition to state control of the means of production and played an important role in moving Irish people away from conservative attitudes to divorce, contraception, abortion, etc.

On August 3 2007, he was appointed as a member of the Irish Senate by Bertie Ahern.

In 1987 he wrote a play called "Souper Sullivan" which was performed at the Abbey.
