- I find it quite ironic,
- And dare I say absurd,
- That something so iconic
- As the Pledge cannot be heard,
- Merely because its text includes
- The two words "under God"...
- And that on First Amendment grounds
- Those words would be outlawed!
- Could it be more offensive
- Just to display a cross,
- Or show a little sign which states,
- "Jesus still saves the lost,"
- Than it would be to shout insults,
- To curse, and flip the bird?
- I find it quite ironic,
- In fact, rather absurd.
- I find it diabolical,
- And thoroughly decadent,
- To treat our tiniest citizens
- Like so much excrement.
- Denied the right to trial,
- To life and liberty;
- Denied personhood status,
- Their mothers' "property",
- Routinely put to death in ways
- We'd shudder if we saw,
- Deprived of life without a charge--
- No "due process of law".
- The carnage yet continues,
- With no sign of relent.
- I find it diabolical,
- And thoroughly decadent.
