Eugene A. Cernan

Eugene A Cernan was born March 14th, 1934, and was the last man to walk on the moon. Cernan is a former NASA Astronaut, and Captain of the US Navy (Retired).
Cernan is a well travelled astronaut, piloting Gemini IX with Tom Stafford for three days between June 3-6 1966, and was lunar module pilot on Apollo 10, the the first comprehensive test flight of Apollo lunar module. He made his third space flight as spacecraft commander of Apollo 17--the last scheduled manned mission to the moon for the United States--which commenced on December 6, 1972, with the first manned nighttime launch, and concluded on December 19, 1972. Cernan has logged 566 hours and 15 minutes in space-of which more than 73 hours were spent on the surface of the moon.
Cernan married Jan Nanna Cernan and they have three daughters, and several grandchildren. He continues to enjoy flying and was recently in the documentary "In the Shadow of the Moon", chronicling the lives of the lunar astronauts.
