The Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act is "a law to help protect the next generation of Americans from growing up with a deadly habit that so many of our generation have lived with", according to President Obama. [1]

  • The law will give the FDA power to ban candy and fruit flavoured cigarettes, force cigarette packs to carry larger, graphic warnings, forbid the use of terms like "mild" and "low tar" in tobacco advertisements, and further restrict advertising of tobacco products. [2]
