Family law consists of those areas of the law pertaining to families, i.e., marriage, divorce, child custody, juvenile, paternity, etc. In many states of the United States, family law is a special area of practice for both the attorneys and the Judges; some state court systems have specialized courts with names like the Family Court or the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court. Family law does not involve a jury.
