Fifth Avenue in Manhattan is one of the most popular and prosperous streets in the world, known particularly for its premier shopping such as Saks Fifth Avenue.

As one of the wide avenues that runs in the north-south direction in midtown Manhattan, flanked by large buildings on both sides, it is a favorite street for holding parades. For example, on Columbus Day in 2010 roughly "35,000 people and more than 100 bands and floats marched up Fifth Avenue."[1]
