First Circuit

The United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit is a federal court that was established by the United States Congress in 1891. Congress' Judiciary Act of 1891 established nine courts of appeals, one for each judicial circuit. They've grown in size, and today the thirteen courts have a total of 179 judgeships.
