Freedom’s Watch was founded in 2007 by a dozen wealthy conservatives. Among the group’s founders are Sheldon G. Adelson, the chairman and chief executive of the Las Vegas Sands Corporation, Mel Sembler, a shopping center magnate based in St. Petersburg, Fla., John M. Templeton Jr., the conservative philanthropist from Bryn Mawr, Pa.; Anthony H. Gioia, a former ambassador to Malta who heads an investment group based in Buffalo, N.Y.; Matt Brooks, head of the Republican Jewish Coalition and donors close to Vice President Dick Cheney.

Bradley A. Blakeman, president of Freedom's Watch, is a former deputy assistant to President George W. Bush and Ari Fleischer, co-founder and spokesman of Freedom’s Watch is the former White House press secretary, "well-connected" to the Bush administration.
