Great Expectations is a novel by the celebrated British novelist Charles Dickens. It is set in England during the Victorian Age and follows the fictitious life of Pip, its main character, as he ages.[1] Pip is thought to be inspired in part by the author Dickens himself, while Magwitch and Compeyson are two criminals who may be modeled on characters the author might have heard about from his father's incarceration in Debtor's prison in 1824.

A grim 6-part, 6-hour series of this tale for BBC/Hulu was released in 2023 to a critical review with Fionn Whitehead starring as Pip.[2]
