Craig resigned from the Obama administration after frustration among senior White House aides in a dispute over President Obama's failure to abide by campaign promises to close Guantanamo Bay.  In January of 2009 Obama had signed an executive order to close the prison by the end of January 2010; the prison remained opened into his second term.
