The Humane Society of the United States is a "animal rights" organization, which was founded in 1954. It is often criticized for many thing. For example a former director of the Humane Society of Dickson County ones said:

“In terms of actual cash coming down to the local shelters [from HSUS]…There is none.”

Notes show that the HSUS gave only $1,000 of its $133 million budget to support sheltering in the entire state of Tennessee.[1] The Humane Society is also not affiliated with any animal shelter and it opposes the eating of meat.
