Hurricane Ike

Hurricane Ike was a category 2 hurricane and was expected to make landfall in Houston, Texas on September 14th, 2008 as a Category 3 with winds exceeding 131 miles an hour. [1] Ike has been ranked as the seventh most expensive catastrophe in the United States history. Mike Barry of the Insurance Information Institute in New York said there was $8.1 billion in insured damage from Hurricane Ike. [2]
