Immigrant is a person who immigrates or moves to a new country. An international student is not classified as immigrant.

More illegal immigrants are entering the United States than legal immigrants, a study found. The report, by the Pew Hispanic Center, a nonpartisan research group, also found that the number of immigrants coming to the United States legal and illegal grew rapidly starting in the mid-1990s, hit a peak at the end of the decade and then declined after 2001. [1]

Over time, millions around the world have found emigrating to the U.S. as the only alternative to starvation, death, or a life full of hardship and suffering. With thousands from nations spanning the globe, America has become a mosaic of people, culture, and hope.[1]
