Indigo refers to the color in the electromagnetic spectrum lying between blue and violet. An easy way to remember this is by the acronym "RoyGBiv" (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet). A blue-violet dye called indigo is obtained from various plants of the genus Indigofera, a deciduous plant historically found in southeastern Asia, and India.
