Iron Maiden is a British heavy metal band that was formed in 1976 by bassist Steve Harris. They are known as one of the most influential bands in heavy metal music genre.[1] In the early 1980s the band was accused by some of being satanic. It is a little known fact, however, that drummer Nicko McBrain is a Christian, having converted to the faith following the witness of his wife. Many Iron Maiden songs are based on famous poems, books, films or events. The epic track The Rime of the Ancient Mariner is based on the famous poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, whilst the song The Trooper describes the events told in the Russian poem The Charge of the Light Brigade.
