Islands of Adventure is an American theme park located in Orlando, Florida, a part of the larger Universal Orlando Resort. The park is owned by Universal Studios, and features the slogan of "Live the adventure", and includes seven different themed areas, each themed to a particular Entertainment universe. It opened on May 28, 1999,[1] being the second theme park opened at Universal's Orlando complex, the first being Universal Studios Florida which opened in 1990.

The theme park originally opened in 1999 with six park areas; Port of Entry, Seuss Landing, The Lost Continent, Jurassic Park, Toon Lagoon and Marvel Super Hero Island. In 2010, the seventh park area, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, was added to the park,[2] replacing a section of The Lost Continent as well as a previous backstage support facility.
