Izanami

In Japanese Shinto-mythology, Izanami is the first primordial goddess and personification of the Earth and darkness. Izanami (伊耶那美 The Female Who Invites) is the wife and sister of Izanagi. Together they created Onokoro, the first island of the Japanese archipelago, along with the other islands and the first gods to watch over the earth, sea, wind and plants.

She died giving birth to the fire god Kagutsuchi-no-Kami and since then she rules Naraku (the underworld), having been sealed in there by Izanagi himself.
