Jerusalem is called the "Eternal City," (Hebrew:יְרוּשָׁלַיִם (Arabic:أورشليم القدس) capital of the country of Israel, though not recognised as such outside Israel. It is considered holy by Jews, Christians, and Muslims. Jerusalem was unified under Israeli control after the Six-Day War of 1967; it had between Israeli independence in 1948 and 1967 been divided between Israeli west Jerusalem and east Jerusalem, part of the Jordanian-controlled West Bank.
