John Adrian Delaney (born June 29, 1956) is the current president of the University of North Florida, overseeing a campus of more than 16,500 students, 600 faculty and more than 1,000 staff. A Republican, he served as Mayor of Jacksonville, Florida from 1995 through 2003, the 13th largest city in the United States. During his two terms he launched major initiatives such as The Better Jacksonville Plan, which was $2.2 billion for new public facilities and other amenities. Prior to his mayoralty he served as general counsel for the City of Jacksonville.
