Joseph (Hebrew, "YHWH shall add"), in various forms, has been a common name throughout history.
Joseph is the name of three significant characters in the Bible:
- Joseph, son of Jacob and viceroy of Egypt
- Joseph of Nazareth, foster father of Jesus Christ
- Joseph of Arimathea, a wealthy follower of Jesus Christ. He had Jesus placed in a tomb belonging to him and then claimed the Body following the Crucifixion.
