Journey to the Center of the Earth (French: Voyage au centre de la Terre) is a science fiction novel by French author Jules Verne.
Plot
The novel follows the young Axel, Professor Lidenbrock, and Hans Bjelke as they attempt to reach the centre of the earth through a crater in the Icelandic mountain Snæfellsjökull. During their travels, they discover ancient life deep underground, living dinosaurs, and an enormous subterranean sea.

Most available English copies are from an 1871 translation which greatly modifies the original text, changing character names, abridging the text, and adding sections.
