King's College London is a university college in London. It was founded by Royal Charter in 1829 as a religious institution, in response to the founding of the secular London University (now University College London) in 1826. It is one of the founding members of the University of London.

It has a strong academic reputation throughout the world, and has produced a large number of influential alumni. Perhaps one of the best known former students is Desmond Tutu, former Anglican Archbishop of Cape Town.
